Marion Evelyn Matheson
1936-2018
MATHESON, Marion –
Blues Mills, Inverness Co,. With heavy hearts the family of Marion
Matheson announce her peaceful passing at home with family on
Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Born on February 19, 1936, in Bucklaw,
Victoria Co., she was a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine May
(Matheson) Ross.
Marion devoted her life to her family and community. She
worked at Victoria County Hospital as a Nursing Assistant for many
years, was a founding member of the Blues Mills Ladies Auxiliary, Home
and School Trustee and member of the Liberal Association. Marion loved
to watch ice hockey and played floor hockey “aka Big
M”. She cared for and loved many animals, her own and stray
who came by, both four legged and two.
She is survived by her husband, Allister; little dog, Josey;
children, Paul (Margaret Ann), Evelyn (Rick), Florence (Wayne);
grandchildren, Terra, Isaac, Stacy, former son-in-law, Ross MacKay,
Krista, Katie, Brian, Misty; great granddaughter, Mairead; nieces,
Kathy and Charlotte; nephews, William Ross and Bob MacAulay. Marion
was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Catherine (Matheson) Ross;
brothers, John and Aubrey; sisters, Evelyn and Pearl.
Marion had a special charm that left an impression on anyone
who met her. Her wit and sense of humor will not be forgotten. A
special thanks to all family and friends over the last years as well
as the Home Care and the Palliative Care team in the last
months.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. on Friday in Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11
a.m. Saturday from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Whycocomagh with
Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Stewartdale
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blues Mills
and Area Ladies Auxiliary or to Victoria County Hospital Palliative
