Margot Jeanne Cottee (Cardinal)
(nee Cardinal)
December 22, 1929-May 13, 2018
Peacefully and with her family by her side, on Mother’s Day, at the age of 88.
Beloved wife of Roy for over 63 years.
Loving mother of Alexandra Forsythe (Randy) Josephine Ralston, both of Vancouver, BC and Pamela Scholten (Gerry) of Saint John, NB.
Cherished grandmother of Craig (Cynthia Secours) Erica (Dave Ferris) Brad (Hailey Mumby) Scholten and four great-grandchildren Charlotte, Cash, Chloe and Gia.
Predeceased by her parents Joseph E. Cardinal and Florence A. Sproule, siblings Constance, Philip, Josephine and her dear Auntie Manno.
In her early years Margot attended Ottawa Ladies College, Glebe Collegiate, Radford College, Radford,Va. and Ottawa Teacher’s College.
After university graduation, Margot briefly worked at the National Research Council where she met and later married her beloved Roy.
Together they shared a lifetime of love, laughter and adventure.
Margot taught grades 7-8 Math and English for a number of years.
She was a volunteer and also a member of the IODE (Guy Gibson Chapter). She enjoyed many activities including; Bridge, playing the piano, reading, walking, ice skating on the Canal and swimming. She was an excellent cook and seamstress.
Margot supported Roy in his “magical” endeavours by sewing stage costumes and performing alongside him as his Magic Assistant.
Our most sincere thanks to the dedicated caregivers at West End Villa and more recently at St. Patrick’s Home.
A private family memorial is to be held at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
