Obituary of Margaret Heritz
Heritz, Margaret (Friesen) – Passed away on January 11, 2018 at Pioneer Elder Care, St Catharines. Beloved Mom of Michael (Shelly Hook), Joanne (Robert Berckmans), and Dianne (Richard Trepanier) Heritz. Devoted Oma of Margaret (Adam Ratkovsky) Corbett and Jamie Corbett, Harriet Ratkovsky, Ryan (Lyndsey Jones) Berckmans and Emma Berckmans, Julie Trepanier (Kyle Fay), Brigitte (Rick) Bijakowski and Lily Mate. Dear sister of Eva (Frank) Reid, Nellie (late Gunter) Gleitsmann, and Jeanette (Eric) Vincent and sister-in-law of Fran Cripps and Gail Cosby Friesen. Aunt of several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her beloved husband Michael Heritz (1971), infant twin brothers Abraham (1934) and John (1937), mother Anna Peters Friesen (1966), father Abraham Friesen (1969), sisters Mary Guenter (1981), Katherine Frick (1992), Helen Schroeder (2003), Anne Guenther (2004), Justina Giesbrecht (2013) Susan Norton (2015), brother Abraham Friesen (2001), and son-in-law James Corbett (1994). Margaret was born April 7, 1922 in Neuanlage, Saskatchewan and moved with her family to Jordan, Ontario in 1943. She worked at General Motors and made St Catharines her home. Margaret was a member of St Denis Church, Catholic Women’s League, Local 199 Retirees, and Seniors Consultants. Margaret’s family wish to thank Pioneer Elder Care, doctors and nurses for her excellent care.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Home 3277 King St. on Friday, January 19 from 5:00 to 8:00pm. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at the Cathedral of St Catherine on Saturday, January 20 at 11:00am. Memorial donations to YWCA Niagara is appreciated by the family.
