Orr, Margaret Elizabeth
Peacefully on July 6th, 2018 at Strathroy Middle General Hospital, Margaret Orr passed away in her 95thyear. Beloved wife of the late Clayton Orr (1982) and Graham McIntyre (1954). Loving mother of Kathryn (Ralph) Mann and Marlene (Dale) Prangley both of Strathroy and second mom to Joe Savage, Ripley. Proud grandmother of Darryl Mann (Jen), Michelle Gratton (Chris), Ian Prangley (Bailey), and Morgan Prangley all of Strathroy. Cherished “GG” of Kylie and Josh Gratton and Braydon and Haley Mann. Sadly missed by her brother Harvey Hotson (Renate), Tillsonburg. Predeceased by sisters Irene Hetherington (Ron), Ester Craven (Alden), Jean Tribner (Fred), Ila Durr (Norm), Elva Giffen (Alvin), Betty McAlpine (Murray) and her brother Bruce (Lillian). She will also be forever remembered and missed by her many nieces and nephews who had a special, supportive and loving relationship with her. She was a WW2 veteran, having served with Air Force as a switchboard operator. At the 75thanniversary of the WW2, she was presented with a certificate of recognition and commemorative pin on behalf of the Minister of Veteran Affairs, the Prime Minister and Lambton Middle Member of Parliament. In 2017, she was one of the remaining female WW2 veterans and she was honoured at Queens Park by Lieutenant Governor. Her many years of community volunteering resulted in being awarded 50 year service award by the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to thank all the palliative care team, nurses, doctors, PSW’s; with special thanks to Kim Robinson, her palliative home care nurse; for all their care and compassion. We would also like to give special thanks to Susan Jurjevich, her nurse practitioner and friend for many years, who helped her so much with her journey. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 9th, 2018 from 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 10that the funeral home at 2:00p.m. Private family interment to follow.
