Margaret Villeneuve (MacPherson)
VILLENEUVE, Margaret, J. (MacPherson)
In loving memory of Margaret Villeneuve (nee MacPherson) who passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on June 28, 2018. Margaret was born in North Bay where she lived for 90 years before moving to Sudbury in 2007. Beloved wife of Alcide (Sid) Villeneuve (predeceased in 1974). Loving mother of Joan Rennick, Heather (Joe) Wilcox, Jack (Luga) Villeneuve, and James Villeneuve (predeceased). Cherished grandmother of Deron, Scott, Holly (Christopher), Tracey, and Steven, and great grandchildren McKenna and David. Dear daughter of Alberta and William MacPherson both predeceased. Dear sister of James (Jim) MacPherson (predeceased), Jack MacPherson (predeceased), Phyllis Bonhomme (predeceased), and Lucy Goff of Mississauga. Margaret is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was often heard saying she didn’t know what she would do without her family. Now her family is wondering what they will do without her. Margaret will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a long time employee with Ontario Northland, spending her summers aboard the Chief Commanda I and II on Lake Nipissing and her winters in Moosonee. She was a former member of St. John’s Anglican Church in North Bay and Church of the Ascension in Sudbury where she was a member of the choir. While living in North Bay, Margaret was an active member in a number of organizations, the Loyal Star Lodge, Eastern Star, Royal Purple, Rebecca’s and Sons of Scotland, where she held senior positions. Margaret was extremely proud of her Scottish heritage.
She will be forever remembered by her grandchildren for her travel treat bags, her Smarties cookies, and her elaborate cake decorating. Her passion for baking for the family continued into her 90s.
A special thank you to the staff at Westmount Retirement Home and Extendicare York for the care and compassion you have provided to Margaret.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Monday, July 2, 2018. Graveside service and interment will take place at Union Cemetery in North Bay on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sudbury would be appreciated.
