Mabel Elizabeth Spencer
(October 29, 1943 – December 4, 2018)
It with great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She spent her final day sharing memories with her family by her side.
Mabel was predeceased by her parents Aime & Lily Spencer and her beloved husband Ronald Magnusson.
She is survived by her daughter, Aimee (Carl), brothers James (Valerie), Aime (Sandra), nephews Shawn (Trich), Ryan (Natalie), Alex (Chrissy), great nieces Nevaeh, Madi, great nephew Robert and the light of Nanny’s life, her granddaughter Brennon.
Mabel was born on October 29, 1943, in Newtownhamilton, Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland. She travelled with her mother to (Kenora, ON) Canada shortly after WW II to be reunited with her father and to meet her large extended Spencer family. Mabel met and married her high school sweetheart Ron. Although their time together was limited, it was a love of a lifetime. Mabel developed many special friendships throughout her life during her employment at the Kenora Town Office, King & Swancar legal office, Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Natural Resources. As well as through sports like baseball & curling. Her happiest times were spent with family and friends. One place always held a special place in her heart. Cymbalisty’s Camp at Pickerel Lake. Sitting out in the porch and watching the sun set on the lake was where she found her “peace in the valley” and friends that became family.
A special thank you goes out to Dr. Brad Kyle, Nurse Practitioner Alexis Peplinski and the staff of 3 east at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital for their extraordinary care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Minis Hall at the Super 8 in Kenora on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm and burial to follow on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Kenora Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity close to her heart, Muscular Dystrophy Canada, at 825 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5
May The Road
Rise Up To Meet You
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
