Obituary
Louina Madeline Finnigan
July 15, 1929 – May 3, 2018
We are heartbroken to announce that our sweet Louina departed this earth during the early hours of Thursday, May 3rd. Louina was born in Highland Park, Michigan and was the second of eleven children. The family moved to Rogersville, New Brunswick when Louina was an infant, and remained there until 1946 when they relocated to the French-Canadian enclave of Maillardville (Coquitlam), B.C. Louina’s first job was at a laundry in New Westminster, followed by one at the Royal City Cannery, until hiring on with Canadian Pacific Veneer where she retired 38½ years later. For many years, Louina resided in New Westminster, but when her aging parents needed assistance, she gave up her apartment and moved back into the family home to care for them. Her mother, Elizabeth Daigle Finnigan, passed away in 1973, followed by her father, Patrick Finnigan, in 1979. Her last residence was the Dufferin Care Center in Coquitlam. She loved animals as much as she did people and was mother to many fur-babies over the years, but her favorites were her first dog, named Fluffy, and Sweet Pea, her last cat. Five siblings, Sr. Patricia Finnigan, Bernice Girard, Wallace Finnigan, Ernest Finnigan, and Maurice Finnigan pre-deceased her. She is survived by one sister, Dorina Lightfoot, and four brothers Clarence Finnigan, Malcolm Finnigan (Jane), Joseph Finnigan and Leonard Finnigan (Thelma), as well as many cousins, God-children, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, May 10th at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes, 828 Laval Square, Coquitlam, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11th at the same location. We are comforted by memories of her kind soul and wonderful sense of humor that will live on in our hearts.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Louina Madeline Finnigan July 15 1929 May 3 2018.source
