Obituary of Lorraine Speers
LORRAINE LINDA SPEERS
(nee Bittner)
On Thursday, July 5, 2018, Lorraine age 88 years died unexpectedly after a brief illness. Despite a strong will to recover she passed peacefully with Bill by her side. Lorraine was the last surviving member of her immediate family of Adolf and Alvina Bittner. She is survived by her husband Bill after 63-years of marriage. She will be held in the hearts of many of her nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Mrs. Alice Bittner.
She was a pensioner at the Bank of Montreal ending her career in the Oakville area. She loved to travel with her family, especially cruising and spending the winters in California with friends and relatives. A gracious lady who created a calming influence whenever stressful situations arose. Devoted to crossword puzzle solving and evening TV quiz shows. Lorraine was overwhelmed by support provided by a group of Gail’s friends following Gail’s passing and the love and support of friends and relatives. Among others, Shelly, Jan, Gwen, Laura, Michel and Yves provided special care and comfort. Thank you to her long-term general practitioner Dr. M. Chambers as well as those at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre who provided care and support.
The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11th. A service will be held in the chapel at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, if you desire, donations to any women’s support/shelter group or other charity of your choice would be appreciated. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
