Obituary Overview
Lorne Stephen Williams
WILLIAMS, Lorne Stephen passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 22nd 2018 with his wife, Mary and family at his side. Born on January 23, 1920, he was in his 98th year.
Dad/Lorne served overseas during WWII; re-enlisted for a further 28 years. On retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1967, Lorne served as Director of Recreation for the City of Belleville. He went on to become a consultant with the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Recreation.
Lorne was a tireless community volunteer and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Ontario Senior Games. He never really ‘retired’. Lorne thrived on hard work, whether it was home repaires or gardening, right up until his 95th year. He instilled this work ethic in all this children and grandchildren, who he doted on. He became a great grandpa to our lovely “Winnie” in April 2018. He lived a full life and we loved him. Love you Papa/Dad.
Lorne was the beloved husband of 72 years of Mary (nee Tipping); much loved father of Jennifer Neal of Belleville, Lyn (Blair), Chris (Judi), and Paul (Anna-Lisa), all of Kingston and Carl Williams, Stoney Creek, Sadly missed by grandchildren, Taylor (Rebecca), Stephen, Andrew and Jonathon (Nicole).
He was the loving son of the late Jack and Irene Williams of Saskatoon. Pre-deceased by sisters Margaret Raycroft, Frances Wilton, and brothers William and Ray Williams.
Cremation and interment at a private cememony at White’s Cemetery, Trenton.
Arrangements entrusted to the Burke Funeral Home (613-968-6968), 150 Church St. Belleville.
