June 7, 1941 – August 10, 2018

HARTLING, Lloyd “Ronald” – Age 77, of Wilmot, Annapolis Co., formerly of Wallace, Cumberland Co., passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018, in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton.
Born on June 7, 1941, in Truro, he was a son of the late Lloyd Richard and Madelene Margaret (Sullivan) Hartling. Ron moved to Wallace at age six from Debert. He attended school in Wallace, Tatamagouche, and was in the first graduating class from Pugwash District High. Ron was employed by Canadian Salt Co. Ltd., retiring in 1999, as Manager of Personnel and Labour Relations after 40 years of service. He was active in the Northumberland Golf Club from its beginning, serving on the Board of Directors for 30 years, as well as a term as President and Treasurer. Ron was a member of St. Matthew`s Presbyterian Church, Wallace, serving as an elder for a period time. Following retirement, he and Shirley moved to Wilmot. Golf was always an ardent pastime and play continued at Paragon, however Northumberland was always home. In 2010, Ron and Shirley purchased a home in Florida, and spent the winters there, and continued to golf in Florida, playing in a park league, shooting his age at 72. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, the former Shirley L. Stevens; daughters, Shannon (Brad) Reid, St. Johns, Nfld; Stacey (Jordan Kirk) Hartling, Port Coquitlam, B.C.; granddaughter, Maddie; brothers-in-law, Joe Stevens, Port Williams; Jim (Stephanie) and John (Nadine) Stevens, both of Morden; several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private interment will take place in Aylesford United Church Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Kings Co. S.P.C.A. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Dr. Karen Birch and the Palliative Care team, and the Medical unit of Soldier’s Memorial Hospital for all the care and compassion shown to Ron and the family.
