LINDA DIANNE TAYLOR
September 20, 1947 – November 10, 2018
Linda Dianne Taylor passed away November 10th, 2018 at Dufferin Place. She passed peacefully, with family by her side listening to her dad’s favorite song, “Hallelujah”. Predeceased by both her parents and her oldest daughter Lana Michelle Taylor (April 28, 2006). Linda leaves behind to mourn her passing, her loving husband of 51 years, Albert Taylor, two daughters Marla Mackey (son in law Shannon Mackey) and Lori Salmon, 10 grandchildren; Chase, Steven, Chantal, Sky, Darren, Ciara, Jennifer, Daniel, Braden and Brianna, and 5 great grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her sisters, Brenda Barber (brother in law Daniel Barber), Charlene Evenson, brother Thomas Harroll and nieces Paula, Shelly, Kristy, and Lisa and many great nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Linda was the oldest of the four children, born September 20th, 1947 in Vancouver, BC to Clifford and Mary Harroll. After graduating high school, she worked in the movie theater and attended night school, taking English classes. This is where she met her husband, Al, who worked as a custodian for the Vancouver school board at the time. Linda and Al married on June 2nd, 1967 and shortly after they started a family, having three daughters; Lana, Marla and Lori. She stayed home and raised the girls. She was a brownie leader for a few years. The family spent many summers over on Protection Island, a place she loved. Her life was devoted to her family. Linda was an integral part of her grandchildren’s lives and she had a very special bond with each one of them. Nobody could make pancakes or meatballs like grandma, even if it was her recipe. She was an avid reader, loved listening to music, enjoyed going to bingo and loved playing crib and Yahtzee with her grandchildren. She enjoyed chatting with or about them and hearing about what was going on in their lives. She never needed or wanted for much, always putting others first. She was patient, loved unconditionally, and had this incredible strength which was evident in the last three and a half years, as she battled cancer. She was a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extent thanks to all those who cared for her over the years. Dr. Ibrahim Dodo, Dr. Steve Kulla and nursing staff at the cancer clinic at NRGH, Community Home Support Workers with Island Health, staff and volunteers at the Palliative Care Unit at NRGH and all the loving care staff at Dufferin Place. Lastly, a special thank you to Dr. Vanessa Bernstein, you gave us more time with her and we are forever grateful.
At her request, there will be no service. The family will gather to celebrate her life at a later date.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Linda Dianne TAYLOR September 20 1947 November 10 2018 (age 71)..
