Leslie Gaye Sax, born September 27, 1952 in Hardisty, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, just prior to his 66th birthday. Leslie grew up on a farm near, and attended school in, Lougheed, Alberta. He had lived in Edmonton since the early 1970s. He is survived by his mother, Bessie (Norman) Sax of Edmonton; and one sister, Susan Sax-Willock (Tom Willock) of Banff; nephews, Fleming (Courtney) Zuhling (grand-nephew Easton and grand-niece Nova) and Hans Sax-Willock of Medicine Hat; uncles, Don (Lee) Sax of Edmonton and Paul (Shirley) Sax (St. Catharines, Ontario). He was predeceased by his father, (Norman Sax) in 2013.
Early on Leslie worked in the water drilling field and drove Mail Truck through Big Horn Trucking. For several years Leslie was involved in activities with the Edmonton Branch of the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta and, although never in the air force, he was proud of his membership with 700 Wing RCAF Association, Edmonton. Leslie loved watching baseball, going to movies, Christmas with family and visiting with friends. He was very proud of his nephews and family was important to him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 11:00 am at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton. A service and lunch will follow in Lougheed, Alberta – 4 pm at the CJ Kinross VC Branch 180 Legion.
Bessie and family would like to thank all the kind and hardworking Firefighters, Paramedics and people at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lougheed Library, 5004-50 Street, Lougheed, AB, T0B 2V0 or to the charity of choice.
