Peacefully on Wednesday March 28, 2018 with family by his side Les Thompson passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 72 years.
Les was predeceased by his parents Wes and Hazel Thompson and brother-in-law Tom Dinwoodie, he leaves to cherish his memory daughter Tracey (Keith) Stecko: grandson Josh Stecko and granddaughter Karlie (Ryan) Watson; son Dennis (Dana) Thompson: granddaughters Kristen (Braden) Nicoll and Kelci Thompson (Brock Palmer); sister Shirley Dinwoodie, as well as numerous nieces and great nephews.
Les was born in Portage on August 16th, 1945 and grew up on the family farm in Westbourne. He started his schooling in Landing School and continued in Westbourne. He spent most of his time farming with his Dad. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and volunteering on the Ducks Unlimited committee. The highlight of his retired day was going to Timmies for coffee and welcoming all visitors that stopped by his home. He was an easy-going, very loving, generous and selfless man.
Private Family Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to a come and go reception on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm in the Trimble Room at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd South.
