It is with heavy hearts that we announce, Laurel Jean Richards (Tagtmeyer) passed away peacefully at her home in Stettler, Alberta on April 6, 2018.
Laurel was born December 2, 1934 in Three Hills, Alberta where she grew up with her four sisters and one brother.
In 1952 she married Norman Richards and together they had their five children: Barry, Randy, Barb, Cheryl and Katherine, all who married and blessed her with the grandchildren she adored.
She had many interests, but her favourites included wild birds, hummingbirds especially and any flower that bloomed, she could hardly wait for spring to arrive, so she could get outside and enjoy the fresh air while puttering in her garden boxes and count the finches that stopped by her bird feeders.
Her greatest loves though were indeed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always looked forward to a visit or a phone call, kept up with everything they had going on, she never forgot a birthday and proudly displayed their pictures and artwork throughout her home. She cherished every family gathering when everyone was under one roof.
Laurel will be lovingly remembered and always missed by her children: Barry (Christine) Richards of Millet, AB, Randy Richards of Millet, AB, Barbara (Lorne) Todd of Donalda, AB, Cheryl (Randy) Richards of Stettler, AB and Katherine (Steve) Cambron of Stettler, AB; fifteen grandchildren and their spouses, and sixteen great grandchildren; her sisters Arlene Litvak and Merlyn Sutherland; nieces; nephews and best friends Joan Lindstrom, Wanita Gauthier and special little friend Carter. She will be welcomed on the other side by her parents Richard and Helen Tagtmeyer, her brother James Tagtmeyer, and her sisters Doris Yarbrough and Elizabeth Clark.
A private family service will be held at a later date. If you wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers please do so in Laurel’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Laurel Jean Tagtmeyer Richards 2018.source
