Husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, a man who was always ready to help people and organizations in need. A longstanding member of Beth Israel congregation, he is survived by his children: Susan Freedman-Posner (Stephen) & Gary Kornstein (Grace). Grandsons: Danny (Claudia) David Freedman. Great grandchildren Mila and Mateo Freedman. Beloved husband of Margit Schliszer Kornstein, having predeceased him on June 11, 2013. Dear Stepfather of Julie Belanger, Valerie Kent, Joseph Palkovits, his wife Leslie Palkovits, and Katharina Sanders, her husband, Michael Morton. Loving Step-grandfather of Gerry Belanger, Angel Freedman, Adam and Miranda Gordon, Coady Havens, Suzanne Knight, her husband, Bradley Knight, Joshua Palkovits, James Sanders. Great Step-grandfather to Gento, Soma Belanger, Gabi and Sam Freedman, Jacob and Miles Knight, Lexi and Owen Lubach, Jessica Sanders. We thank Julie Belanger and Katharina Sanders, long-time loving caregivers to Laszlo Kornstein. A Holocaust survivor, He never forgot the J.I.A.S. (Jewish Immigration Aid Services) who helped him come to Canada. Never one to give up on seeking justice for the war time wrongs inflicted upon him, the passage of time brought great healing and he befriended those that would have been his enemies. Later in life he joined the Canadian Legion, so that they would know that he never forgot what the Canadian soldiers had done to help him survive and have both opportunities and a good life in Canada. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, September 13, at Beth Israel Cemetery, Sydenham Road at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to Beth Israel Congregation.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Laszlo Kornstein 2018..
