NORTHRUP, LARRY ELDON
Larry Eldon Northrup of Hammonds Plains passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2018. He leaves behind a legacy of love, joy and compassion already dearly missed by his loving girlfriend Molly Deveau and her son Carter; his mother Jean (Crannie) Peters; his daughter & son-in law Brentha & Jeff Prosser; his sister & brother-in-law Angela & Darren Jardine; his step-daughter Melanie Wilson and her daughter Carigan & his FurGirls Lilly, Bella & Bristo. Larry was predeceased by his father Eldon Northrup.
Larry spent over 35 years working in many different positions for the Bell Aliant family of companies. He was a dedicated and well respected colleague. He loved his work and the countless friendships he made along the way. He asks you to “Remember me at coffee time!”
He also worked in his spare time as the “Jack of All Trades” at The Painted Attic, a small-business he and Molly established in the Hammonds Plains area. He had such a passion and knack for helping customers choose the products they’d need for their furniture projects.
Larry was best known for his sarcastic sense of humor, mischievous grin and the twinkle in his eye – all things that will be cherished in our hearts and missed forever! His request is that today, in his honour, you do something special for someone remembering that it’s the small things that make life meaningful. If you wish to remember him by donating to good works, may we suggest the Palliative Care Unit at the VG Hospital.
A special thank you to Larry’s oncologist Dr Lori Wood for her kindness and compassion during the battles he fought throughout his lifetime. Thank you also to the Palliative Care team and EMT staff who took extra special care of him during his last few days.
Larry’s family thanks you all for your kindness and love during this time. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed. We look forward to the day where the pain we now feel will be replaced with smiles as we remember and cherish his memory.
In honour of his wishes, Larry has been cremated and there will be no visitation. A time to celebrate his life will be held at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax on Friday, June 8th from 2pm to 5pm, with remarks and song being held at 3pm.
Larry’s commonly referenced Star Trek phrase was “Live Long and Prosper” to which we respond “ ’til we meet again”.
