OBITUARY
Mrs. Klara Leona Ortt
December 15, 1932 – August 30, 2018
Klara Leona (Richter) Ortt (85), dear wife and mother, passed away on August 30, 2018 in Calgary AB. She was born on December 15, 1932 in Broadview Saskatchewan, to Reinhold and Magdalena Richter.
Klara married Leonard Ortt in Grenfell in 1952, and they were happily married for 62 years. They farmed in Grenfell until the family moved to Kelowna in 1966. Klara worked out of the home doing office work and later became a Realtor. Once Klara & Len retired, winters were spent in Arizona and summers back in Kelowna with the family. Klara and Len spent many hours enjoying their grandchildren’s activities in both Kelowna and Calgary. In their younger years they were avid curlers and baseball fans. They discovered a love of travelling which started with a tent trailer, and progressed to flying all over the world. Klara had a strong faith, and was very involved in the ladies groups at the church.
Klara is survived by five children: Diane Ortt (Steve Klimuk) of Calgary, Lois (Frank) Buckland, Gloria (Warren) Finch and Lawrence Ortt (Brenda Colvin), all of Kelowna, Glen (Susan) Ortt of Calgary. She also leaves her ten grandchildren: Alex MacKenzie of Calgary, David (Rachel) Ortt of Edmonton, Aaron Samson of Calgary, Julia Samson of Vancouver, Justin (Daygen) Finch, Kristy (Joel) Goertz, Eric (Sanja) Finch and Matthew Ortt, all of Kelowna, Erica Ortt and Jacob Ortt of Edmonton. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Klara was predeceased by Len and her eleven siblings.
A celebration of Klara’s life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 1162 Hudson Road, West Kelowna on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
