Whitehead, Kenneth Cecil- Ken was born on June 10th, 1925 in Delhi, Ontario and passed away on Sunday July 8th, 2018 at 8:38am at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, North Bay Ontario with his loving and devoted wife Helen and his children by his side.
Ken was the loved and admired father of Paul (daughter Bronwyn (Anto Morales) of London ON, Peter (Lana) of St John’s Newfoundland, Matthew (Susan) and their children Julia and Andrew of North Bay. He was predeceased by his forever cherished son Andrew Malcolm, born 1961 and died May 31st, 1967, his parents Frederick and Ada (nee Osbourne) of Delhi, Ontario; his brother Raymond (Lucille), Henry (Beulah and Margaret), Wilfred, Victor, Evan (Joan surviving) and Lee (Jean), his sisters Kay (Jim Webb) and Marva (Rev. Reg Babbey and Carol ,surviving). Kenneth is survived by his sister Marion (Bill Cannon deceased) and by his brothers Clifford (Dorothy deceased), Maxwell (Dorothy) and Jeffery (Annie). He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Ken was a decorated veteran of World War II, European Theatre, Queen’s Own Rifles Signals. He was very proud of his military service and believed it laid the foundation of self-discipline, determination and perseverance for the rest of his life. He studied business at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario and rose progressively through several manufacturing and resource companies as financial executive and eventually as President and General Manager. He volunteered capably and eagerly and without reserve for sports teams, music, especially the North Bay Symphony, The North Bay Choral Society and supported the aims of the Sisters of St Joseph of Sault Ste Marie, the North Bay Art Association, The Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption, Holy Name of Jesus Parish and Trinity United in their devotion to Outreach in the North Bay and Region Community. He also became a professional framer for Helen’s artwork.
The family will be receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd, North Bay on Friday July 13th, 2018 from 6pm until 9pm. A funeral service will be held at St Andrew’s United Church, North Bay on Saturday July 14th 2018 at 2pm. Burial will be held at a later date in Delhi, Ontario in the Whitehead family plot.
