Obituary Overview
Lovingly Remembered
With his family by his side Kenneth Elder passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Strathmore Regional Hospital.
Ken was born in Gleichen on February 14, 1926 and spent most of his life on the family farm south of Standard. In 1950 Ken married Mina Albertson and built a home for their family where everyone was welcome and treated to genuine hospitality and friendship. Left with wonderful memories are his seven children and their spouses, sixteen grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren, as well as his brother Mac & Cathy Elder, sisters Pat & Hal Minton & Norma Camman and sisters-in-law Val & Bill Pollock and Myrna & Lorna Howell and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken was predeceased by his wife Mina, father Ronald Elder, mother & step-father Lois and Alex Buckley and brothers Jim and Bob Elder. Ken’s family and friends will remember his charm, wit, positive good nature and generosity. He willingly shared his skills and talents with neighbours and his community. The Elder family wishes to express our since thanks to Dr. Fanning, The Wheatland Lodge, The Strathmore Regional Hospital and for the caregivers in these facilities, for the care and compassion shown to our Father.
Ken Elder’s life will remembered and celebrated at the Standard Community Hall, Standard, Alberta on Friday June 1, 2018 at 2:00 in the afternoon. If so desired, donations may be made in Ken’s memory to The Standard Lions Club, The Strathmore Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice.
