Obituary for
Kathryn Mary McDonald (McDougall)
A beautiful soul, Kathryn McDonald (nee McDougall), passed away peacefully with grace and acceptance, surrounded by her loving family on June 3rd in her 83rd year.
Kathryn was guided by her unwavering faith, the love of her family and sister and dearest friend Ann, as well as the support of her many close friends during her final months with us.
Predeceased by her husband Ambrose McDonald, Kathryn is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her six children and fourteen grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and source of strength to Mary Helen (Brian), Andrea, Rob (Danielle), Chris (Nancy), Trish (Tim) and David. She was also a loving and ever present grandmother to Peter, Amy, Chris, Emily, Patrick, Grace, Erin, Scott, Kevin, Kathryn, Alexandra, Cameron, Caleigh and Liam.
Known to many as ‘Saint Kathryn’, she attended Iona Academy, obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion from Carleton University, and enjoyed many years as a school teacher. Our mother always said how blessed she was to have such a wonderful family and amazing friends. She was the heart and soul of our family who continuously thought of others to the very end. In truth, we were the lucky ones and she will be forever missed.
Our family is grateful to Dr. Coulombe and the team of nurses from Carefor, for the wonderful care and support our mother received.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 315 McLeod St (at O’Connor), on Wednesday June 6, from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1758 Alta Vista Drive, on Thursday June 7, at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or Jericho Road Ministry would be appreciated.
Order Flowers
