Kathleen Murdoch MacArthur
MacArthur (Noble), Kathleen Murdoch, age 96, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2018, with her family by her side in Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Markdale, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Murdoch) and Robert Noble.
Predeceased by brothers Alexander, Robert, James, George; and sister Jane. She was the last surviving member of their family.
Kathleen was a member of the staff of the British Admiralty in Washington, D.C. from 1942 to 1945 and returned to Canada at the cease of World War II.
Kathleen and Burnie were married on November 9, 1946 and their early life together was spent in Owen Sound and St. Catherines, Ontario. They moved to Halifax in 1962 and after retirement in 1962, they spent winter vacations in the Fort Myers area and did various tours to Great Britain and Continental Europe.
Kathleen was an accomplished seamstress and this kept her quite active over the years alongside her trusted “Singer” sewing machine. She was always involved with crafts of all kinds and up until the last few years, was a regular participant at various locations in the Dartmouth area.
She was a long-time active member of Grace United Church and a Life Member of the United Church Women. (U.C.W.)
She is survived by her husband Burnie; daughter Linda Lever, Cow Bay; daughter Marilyn (Rick) Evans, London, Ontario; granddaughter Vanessa (Brandon) Dubyk, Ottawa, Ont; grandson Colin Evans, Weyburn, Sask., great-grandson Lochlan Dubyk, Ottawa, Ont.
She was predeceased by granddaughter Laura Evans (London, Ont.) and son-in-law David Lever, Cow Bay.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday September 13, 2018, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, Rev. Stephen Fram officiating with a reception to follow.
Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to: The Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society.
