Katherine Noel Lonergan {nee O’Keefe} R.N.
On Friday, August 17th in her 89th year, at Union Villa in Unionville, Ontario, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years Ernest, her brother Larry O’Keefe and sister Mary Steward. Survived by her brother Michael J. O’Keefe (Brenda) and sister Maggie Eisenberg, her 4 daughters Patricia, Barbara (Jim Byers), Nancy (John Larsh), and Jan (Adam Waterous), and cherished grandchildren Michael, Kathleen, Matthew, Christopher, Paul, James, Connor, Riley and Liam.
Born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Katherine pursued a career in nursing. She moved to Toronto in 1960 with her husband Ernie and her four daughters. She was passionate about her nursing career, which included Scarborough General Hospital and the Donwood Institute. Nana will be fondly remembered forever by her nine grandchildren for the many days spent around the pool, and always having a package of saltine crackers or Lifesaver popsicles when they came for a visit.
Thanks to the staff at Union Villa for the years of support and compassionate care provided to make Katherine’s final years the best they could be.
A private celebration of her life for will be held for Katherine.
