Obituary Overview
June Stadnyk
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and “Nana”, at her home, on November 8, 2018, at the age of 83.
June was born March 17, 1935 in Winnipeg. A natural optimist she grew up having many friends. At age 18 she met the love of her life John. Together they raised their children Glenn and Lynn in East Kildonan.
Mom was a talented homemaker. We have abundant memories of family barbeques, camping at Clear Lake and Banff, and mom’s famous Christmas dinners for many relatives and friends. Our house was one of hospitable entertaining.
Always keen to learn new things she studied Ukrainian reading and writing, took specialty cooking and baking classes, and was gifted in beautiful sewing, knitting, and embroidery.
June was active in sports and at a young age loved figure skating and bike riding, later was an avid curler at Rossmere, and did yoga when it was “cool” in the ‘70’s. She was a lifelong Blue Bombers fan. She loved walking Ginger the family dog in Fraser’s Grove Park, and was a passionate animal lover. Having lived in her home for 60 years she is fondly remembered in the neighborhood.
With her husband John, she enjoyed winter holidays to Club Med in the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, and took trips later to Kiev and Singapore. Later in life she found immense joy in being Nana to her beloved grandchildren Patrick and Jillian.
Mom was a strong and positive person; our voice of reason. We were blessed to have her in our lives, and will carry her in our hearts forever, our beautiful mom.
June is predeceased by her husband John Stadnyk; parents Helen and Paul Natalona; brothers Denis and Anthony Natalona; sisters Stephanie Sidorchuk and Anne Krutiak. She is survived by her son Glenn; daughter Lynn (Ron); grandchildren Patrick and Jillian; and her sister Teena Chornley (Lloyd).
We wish to thank Dr. R. Guzman and Dr. K. Coates for their years of care, as well as the Palliative Care team in the community.
Private family interment will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of June Stadnyk 2018..
