Obituary Overview
Judith Annette Brunet
Judy of Halifax passed away on June 13, 2018 at the Halifax Infirmary at the age of 69. Growing up in Goldboro, NS, her family home always had visitors. After high school, Judy completed Medical Laboratory Technology training to begin a 40-plus-year career, mostly at Red Cross/Canadian Blood Services, but also at St. Martha’s Hospital, the Grace Maternity Hospital, and even in Australia. Her love for travel brought her across Australia, Europe and Canada, and many times to New York City. Judy enjoyed theatre, movies, music, reading, lunch with friends, sitting by the water counting birds and meeting new people. She spent countless time volunteering at her children’s schools and activities, and at West End United Baptist Church. Her Christian faith was such an important part of her life. Judy’s life was extended three years after a miraculous lung transplant, thanks to her donor and their family. Known for her bright smile, contagious laugh, intelligence, bravery, perseverance, kindness, and taking people under her wing, Judy will be missed by many, including her son Andrew and daughter Michelle (Josh) of Halifax, her brother Malcolm (Hazel) of Dartmouth, brother Leonard (Judy) of Orleans, nieces Carolyn (Michael) and Janis (Craig), nephews Greg (Cindy) and Gary (Tonya), and some very important great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She is pre-deceased by husband Marc, parents Floyd and Mary (Layton) Silver, sister Isabelle, and close cousins Betsy Clarke and Ruth McKinnon. Visitation 2-4pm and 6-8 pm on Thurs. June 21 at Atlantic Funeral Home (6552 Bayers Rd.) Funeral 3pm, Sat June 23 at Anchor City Church (2187 Larry Uteck Blvd/St. Jonh’s Anglican). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Anchor City Church, the Lung Transplant Program at the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, or Lung Association of NS.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Judith Annette Brunet 2018.source
