Joyce Charlene Illsley
Joyce Charlene Illsley – age 87, of Orchard Villa
West, Berwick, formerly of Kentville. With heavy hearts we are
announcing the passing of my wife, our mom and nannie on Wednesday,
January 3, 2018. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Bernice
(Dunham) Barker. Mom attended Kings County Academy. She worked for
Maritime Tel & Tel for 36 years, from where she retired and
was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She and Harm enjoyed
travelling to Florida for the winter and spending the summers at
Evangeline Beach. Joyce was a former member of the Kentville
Commercial Travelers Club. She loved being surrounded by her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband
of 67 years, Harmon; her children, Charlene (Bernie) Davies, Black
River; Robert “Bob” (Tara Ryan), Kentville; Beverly
“Bev” (Shelley Watson), Kentville; Cheryll (Dave
Wood), Upper Dyke; Teri (Stephen) Harris, Coldbrook; Kellie (Murray)

Riley Comeau, Upper Dyke; step great-grandchildren, Jemma Spidle,
Woodville; Owen Kelly, Coldbrook; her beloved dog, Sadie. She was
predeceased by her sister, Vivian Turner; sister-in-law, Jacqueline
Russell; brothers-in-law, George Turner, Beverly Russell, Francis
Illsley and John Illsley. Cremation has taken place. There will be no
visitation, by request. A celebration of Joyce’s life,
followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7,
2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial will take
place at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations
in memory may be made to Orchard Villa West, Berwick. Funeral
