14 h 00 – 17 h 00 / 19 h 00 – 21 h 00 Joseph Patrick Joy
. Born March 19th, 1964 Montreal Died April 29th, 2018 Montreal
.
It is with a profound sadness that Joe’s family announces his passing on April 29th, at the Royal Victoria
Hospital of complications related to his treatment for cancer.
. Survived by his daughters Oona and
Narah and their mother Leisa (Goard) Joy, Joe was the beloved youngest son of the late Eric F. Joy and
Rosemary Anne (O’Reilly) Joy, brother of Martha (Doug Labrick), Michael, Christopher (Penny Wells) and
Cynthia.
. Joe graduated from Loyola High School then John Abbott College. He was a competitive sailor,
sailing instructor and ran the Race Committee at the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club as a young man. A
history buff and political enthusiast, he went on to graduate from Bishop’s University, with a BA History
with Honours. After university he worked at Hood Sails in Toronto before returning to Montreal to start
an awning and boat cover company.
. A warm and loving person, he was committed to work of an
entrepreneurial nature and as a road warrior he was well acquainted with airports and hotels from LA to
Abu Dhabi. Quick to laugh and a gifted raconteur he sought the positive without hesitating to point out
the negative. He was most recently Director of Strategic Accounts at Triotech Amusement Inc, formerly
VP Corporate Development at Vortex Aquatic Structures, VP at Oceanwide Inc and Sales and Marketing
Director at Schluter Systems.
. Joe was a committed home cook and loved to BarBQ and entertain friends
and neighbours. He deeply loved his two daughters and thought the world of them.
. The family would
like to thank all the dedicated staff and Doctors of the MUHC both at the MGH and at the Glen.
.
Visitations will take place at Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Decarie Blvd on Thursday May 3rd
between 2-5pm and 7-9pm. The funeral mass will be held on Friday May 4th at 11 am at the Ascension
of our Lord church, 375 Kitchener Ave Westmount followed by a wake at the RStLYC, 1350 Lakeshore
Drive in Dorval.
. Donations in Joe’s memory can be made to Cedars Cancer Foundation.
