Joseph “Joe” Hoedl

Joseph “Joe” Hoedl of Olds, AB, succumbed to cancer on August 24, 2018. Joe was born July 26, 1937 on his parents homestead near Valleyview, Alberta. Joe worked in oilfield sales & service until his retirement at age 55. He enjoyed playing golf, curling, watching CFL games, cheering on his Stampeders every chance he got. Joe was an avid reader, gardener and wine maker and could fix anything. He also enjoyed following the stock market, garage sales, cooking and bbqing, liking nothing better than to share a meal. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all. He is survived by his wife Linda Maxwell of 29 years; daughter Rhonda Hoedl, son Garry Hoedl; stepsons Stephen Skiehar and Dan Skiehar; mother-in-law Margaret Maxwell; grandchildren Jennifer Witt (Adrian), Megan Walker (Cody), Chad Pollock and Tyler Walker; three great-grandchildren, Isabella Parsons, Basil Parsons and McKenna Perry; sisters Terry & Mary and brothers George & Don. Joe was preceded in death by his first wife Beverly Hoedl; daughter Sandra Walker; parents George and Anna Hoedl; father-in-law Gordon Maxwell; brothers Lawrence and John Hoedl; sisters Irene Boulet and Ann Yelenik. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Units 23 and 32 of the Red Deer Regional Hospital for their loving care and support. Funeral services were held at Heartland Funeral Services Chapel, Olds Thursday, August 30, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Palliative Care, Unit 32, Red Deer Regional Hospital, 3942 50A Ave, Red Deer, AB T4N 4E7 or charity of choice.
