Joseph Henry Chartier was born March 16, 1955 in Virden, Manitoba. He grew up on the farm near Reeder Manitoba and went to school in Miniota. He moved to Estevan, Saskatchewan in 1970, at the age of 15 to begin his career in the oilfield. He then moved to Coronation in 1973 and continued working on the service rigs. He battery operated for a short while, then later started consulting for service rigs.
On October 9, 1976, Henry married Cheryl Brigley and they were blessed with 2 daughters Michelle and Alicia. Henry and Colleen Harris connected in 2000, and formed a relationship until her passing in 2015.
He had a passion for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping , panning for gold and playing back gammon. He was a skilled cook, and very resourceful and knowledgeable. He was very proud of his two daughters and their families. He loved spending time with them and had a lot of patience for his four grandchildren.
Henry is survived by his two daughters Michelle (Dustin) and Alicia (Raymond), four grandchildren: Jerzie, Ava, Parker and James. He is also survived by his mother Julia, four sisters Bernie (Keith), Pat (Denny), Aline (Charles), Madeline (Terry), two brothers Dennis and Ronnie (Cindy), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his spouse Colleen in 2015, his father Ivor Waldie and Wilf Latimer.
