ALLEN, Joseph

Joe Allen, a Cape Breton boy with a streak of
independence throughout his life, left home
at the age of 14 and then struck out to
Oshawa. He found work at General Motors
and called Oshawa his home. He met and
married Audrey (predeceased 1979) and
together they raised five children: Chuck
(Marylou), Dale (Michelle), Wanda (Peter),
Brian (Dawn), and Brenda (Kent). He will be
missed by his family and special friend Sue.
He leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren,
and siblings Phil (Sandy),
Aleta (late Vern), and predeceased by sister
Nellie (late Perry) and Millie (Basil). After
retiring in 1986, Joe returned to Cape Breton
and more recently, called Brighton home.
Interment to occur at Mount Lawn Cemetery
(Whitby), on Saturday June 2, at 10:00 a.m.,
with Celebration of Life to follow immediately
after, at Mount Lawn. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation or the charity of your
choice.
