Obituary of John Brown
BROWN, John Henry – 82, of New Glasgow/Pictou, passed away at home, May 12, 2018. Born in Glace Bay, June 13, 1935, he was a son of the late David and Elizabeth (Grandy) Brown. John was a member of the Royal Canadian Armed Forces Infantry Unit (Black Watch) and later worked at General Motors, in Ontario. After moving to Nova Scotia in 1972, he was employed with Michelin Tire, where he would later retire from. John was a passionate gardener at is farm in Sunridge. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 16, Pictou and a member of the Eastern Star IOOF Lodge, No. 1, Pictou. He was an avid card player, frequently playing with his friends at New Horizons and Lyon’s Brook Card Club. John will be sincerely missed by his children, David (Heather), Seven Sisters Falls, Manitoba; Suzanne Brown, New Glasgow; Lisa (Rick) Langille, Kingston, Ontario; Lori Brown (Grant Reinhart), Sylvan Lake, Alberta; his dear friend and love, Edith Boudreau; grandchildren, Terry John Hansen, Cole Hansen, Kiley and Ryan Langille; one great-grandchild; brothers, David, Las Vegas; Wayne, Toronto; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of forty-nine years, Joyce Marie (Casey) Brown; grandson, Cody Brown; and brother, Lloyd. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Thursday May 17th, in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. The funeral will take place at 11:00am on Friday, May 18, from St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, with Rev. Darlene Jewers officiating. Burial will be in Scotch Hill Cemetery, following the service. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Wounded Warriors Canada. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
