1932-2018
Peacefully and unexpectedly at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour
NB on November 3rd 2018, Mr. John Walcot Brennan, beloved husband of
the late Martina M. (DeRoaches) Brennan of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at
Tignish PE on June 8, 1932, he was a son of the late Thomas and Lottie
(McGinnes) Brennan. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather,
brother and uncle, John is survived by his sons: Fred (Leta) Brennan
of St. George NB and Patrick (Tammie) Brennan of Bonny River NB; five
grandchildren: Amber Simpson (Kenny) of Saint John NB, Ryan Brennan
(Stacey Howe) of Moncton NB, Nicholas Brennan (Margaret Burger) of
Prince George BC, Jarrod (Alexis) Brennan of Saint John NB and Jackson
Brennan of St. George NB; eight great-grandchildren: Riley, Isabell,
Shelly, Dylan John, Brody, Bentley, Wesley and Benson; one brother:
Gerald (Clare) Brennan of Fredericton NB; one sister: Ida Murray of
Kingston ON; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In
addition to his parents he was predeceased by his beloved, Martina;
brothers: Walter, Earl and Baby Alonzo; sisters: Beryl Ell, Helen Daye
and Thelma Malone.
Prior to his retirement, John was employed by Connors Brothers in
Blacks Harbour from where he retired in 1996. Having worked at both
the Can & Cover Division, and also where he was mostly remembered,
at the Retail Division where he worked at both the old and new stores
as a grocery clerk. John also served on Village Council in Blacks
Harbour for two terms, serving as Deputy Mayor. John enjoyed people,
drives to town, spending time with his family, especially his
grandchildren. He was the “Young & The Restless'”
biggest fan and had to be home and not bothered when it was on. John
also enjoyed politics and was a hardcore Conservative until the end.
He has been a familiar and friendly face in Blacks Harbour for many
years. In his later years, prior to his illness, he will be fondly
remembered for his several daily trips to the Blacks Harbour Post
Office and both Cooke Aquaculture buildings and to the Fresh Mart to
catch up on the news and to see if anyone needed anything. He made
many friends over the years, with whoever, wherever he went. In his
final years he gained a whole new family at the Fundy Nursing Home,
with a loving staff who cared for him and loved him dearly. They are a
very special crew that Pat and Fred will forever be grateful to. John
will be sadly miss and fondly remembered.
