KING, John Ronald of Ottawa, passed away peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital on Wednesday March 21, 2018 at the age of 87. Cherished husband of Eileen and loving father to Randy (Chantal), Susan (Matt), Sandy, Shelley, Robbie and predeceased by baby daughter Sharon. Stepfather to Mark (Kim) and Jeff Liston. Proud grandfather of Matt (Tessa), Sarah, Jessica, Jackson (Lisa), Mackenzie (Zoë), Scott (Leah), Peter, Taylor, Grace, Kasey-Leigh (Yves) and Kyle. Great-grandfather to Émilie, Theo and Noé. Beloved brother of Shirley Spour and predeceased brothers Earle and Fred. Loving son of the late Alma and Fred King. John will be fondly remembered by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. John dedicated his life to education as a teacher, vice-principal and principal with the Ottawa Board of Education for over 35 years. One of his greatest professional achievements was being the founder of the Arts Program at Canterbury High School in 1983. His legacy endures to this day.
Friends and Family are invited to visit at Beechwood, Cemetery and Funeral Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, from 12 o’clock Wednesday, March 28, until time of Funeral Service in the Sacred Space at 2 o’clock.
Memorial donations may be made in John’s name to La maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie, the Ottawa Heart Institute and the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus. A special thank you to Dr. Patrick Blake for his compassion, care and support over the years.
