John Kellock
1950-2018
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden
passing of John James Kellock, age 68, of Stellarton, on October 3,
2018. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Royce and Margaret
(Bigney) Kellock. John spent his formative years in Trenton before
work took him across the country from coast to coast to coast. He
settled back in Nova Scotia upon retirement from the mining industry.
He was a skilled worker who could keep the mill running regardless of
what was sent up from underground. John was a member of the Stellarton
and Area Lions Club and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He
loved a good joke and his sweet tooth was well known by his loved
ones. He had a special spot in his heart for all the cats and dogs he
encountered. John is survived by his daughter, Wanda (David Capstick),
Calgary, AB; and James Morrison (Beth Whalen), Terrence Bay, NS;
grandchildren: Lily, Abby, Ian and Nya; sisters: Joan (Rod Chabassol);
Sharon Goss; Verna (Butch Mosher); brothers: Don Kellock; Terry
Kellock (Peggy MacInnis); as well as many nephews, nieces and great
nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Campbell,
and sister-in-law, Susan Kellock. In keeping with John’s
wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 11
am Tuesday, October 9, 2018, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home Chapel,
55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating.
Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,
donation’s in John’s name may be made to the
Stellarton and Area Lions Club, PO Box 1240,
Stellarton, NS, BOK 1SO.
