Chapman, John “Johnny” Arthur – passed away suddenly at his residence in Hamilton, Ontario on January 23, 2018 at the young age of 56. John had a zest for love as was evident in his storytelling. He has kept his friends and family in stitches over the years with his story tales. He was so full of wit and charm and you always came away smiling after a conversation with him. A family man at heart, he stayed with his Mom and helped her for many years. After his move to Ontario, John made many phone calls back home, just to keep in touch and spread that infectious laughter to everyone. He spent many days in Cape Breton, visiting his aunts, uncles and cousins, always leaving them in stitches. He will be truly missed. John leaves behind a large family; sisters, Linda (Tim) Smith and Wanda (Derrick) Vanderkooi, Springhill; Theresa Wolbaum, Ontario; Florence, Cape Breton; Theresa Thomas, Ontario; brothers, Joe (Wendy), Oxford; Terry (Cindy), Clarence (Dianne), Stephen (Wendy), Bruce (Arlene), Dennis, all of Springhill; many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Johnny was predeceased by his parents, Clarence “Joe” and Bernadette (Pentecost) Chapman; stepmom, Betty Chapman; sister, Eileen; brothers, Jimmy, Wayne and Gary; special aunt, Rosie. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford. A graveside service will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill at a later date.
