January 7, 1958-March 22, 2018
John Dewit passed away peacefully early Thursday March 22, 2018 at the Ottawa General Hospital with his family at his side at 60 years of age. He is survived by his parents Albert and Martina as well as children Jeffrey (Trina), Robert, his grand-daughter Jennifer. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Margaret, Lydia (Bryan) and Betty as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and their families. John was born in Steenwijk, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada at an early age. He resided in the Iroquois area most of his life. John fought a long courageous battle with Diabetes and Kidney Disease and is now at peace. His devotion, wisdom, great sense of humour, and giving heart will be remembered always.
As per John’ wishes, his body will be cremated, and no visitation or funeral service will be held, His family will be hosting a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, May 5 from 1:30-4pm at the Hartford Home in Morrisburg where John resided and called home for many years. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marsden and McLaughlin Home, Iroquois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or Diabetes Association in loving memory of John. Online messages of condolence may be made in the obituary section of
