John Dennis Ray
1926-2018
Ray, John D., Yarmouth Port,
passed away on November 2, 2018 at the age of 92 at Liberty Commons,
Chatham, MA.
John was born in Lowell and grew up in Arlington, Mass. After
graduating from high school, he joined the US Navy during World War
II. In keeping with the many who were discharged from the service at
that time, he attended Boston University utilizing the GI Bill. While
attending BU he also played hockey for the BU Terriers. At the time of
his graduation, he received a notice from the Navy that he was being
re-called to serve another year during the Korean
Conflict.
Ice hockey was his passion. He played and managed the
ARlington Arcadians, a team part of a very active league during the
fifties.
John’s business career was spend in the insurance
industry in the Boston and New Jersey area.
He is predeceased by his brother, George William and
sisters-in-law, Jeanette Ray and Lorine MacEachern, also
brother-in-law, Ronald MacEachern.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Teresa (MacEachern) Ray,
brother, Kenneth Ray, Lowell, MA and his long time friend, Enrica
Casali, sisters-in-law Eva Kessler, Johnston, PA, Ann MacPherson,
Cecilia Grant nd Betty Farrell, all from Antigonish, Nova Scotia,
brothers-in-law, John Mac -Eachern, Gerard MacEachern and Daniel
MacEachern, Cape George, Nova Scotia as well as many nieces and
nephews.
John’s retirement years were spent in Yarmouth
Port, St. Augustine, Florida and Cape George, Nova
Scotia.
Funeral Mass will be held in Holy Rosary Church,
Ballantyne’s Cove on Monday, November 12th at 10:00 am with
Reverend Andrew Boyd presiding. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
