Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory of Dave
Flett, John David – peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in his 76th year. Beloved husband of over 53 years to Margaret (nee Kelly). Loving father to Sandra Fischer (Allan), Kelly Lanigan (Rick) and Dawn Hamilton (Jeff). Loving granddad to Jason, Ryan, Mason, Melissa, Jessica, Jordyn and Justin. Loving grumpy grampy to Brian, Lilly, Makayla, Khloe, Jaxyn and Jack. Also survived by his step-mother Ann Snyder; sisters Marsha (Chuck) and Nancy (Gary); brothers Tim (MaryKay) and Tom (Karen); 10 brothers and sisters-in-law and spouses; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by father David Alexander Flett, mother Kathleen Elsie Flett (Burgess), sister Sheila Hird , nephew Scott Stevens, father-in-law Elmer Kelly, mother-in-law Mildred Kelly (Woods), sister-in-law Verna “Sam” Kelly and brother-in-law Frank Stevens. Dave served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1961 to 1964. He was employed at General Motors for over 30 years before retiring as a Supervisor in 1999. Dave enjoyed his family, fishing and volunteering with Baseball at Sherwood Activity Centre and Meals on Wheels. He especially enjoyed his 6 great grandbabies. Dave will be greatly missed by all. Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service is to take place. A Celebration of Dave’s Life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4, 383 Morningstar Ave. Welland on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Lung Association.
