Obituary for John David Exley
In loving memory of John David Exley of Burlington, Ontario, who passed away peacefully at 76 years of age on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Carpenter Hospice. John was born January 28, 1942 in Hamilton, Ontario to Bill and Irene.
John is survived by his 2 sons, Dave and Jeff (Debra), his girlfriend Donna, his sisters Donna (Earl), Shirley (Clarence), Sandra (Pat), and Linda (Doug), and his brothers Wayne (Rita) and Bill, and was preceded by his brother Tom. He is also survived by many loving nieces & nephews and other family, and lots of life-long friends.
John grew up in Hamilton and made his home in Burlington where he raised his family. He was known to loved ones as ‘Jack’ or ‘uncle Jack’ and was always the first in line to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. He started a career as a taxi cab driver – which lasted one full day – before changing lanes and starting a life-long career he took pride in as an electrician for the I.B.E.W. – which we all appreciated when a ceiling fan needed installing or a house needed complete re-wiring. Later in life John developed a passion for motorcycles and would often be found riding the days away with good friends and visiting loved ones. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 15 at the Halton Naval Veterans Association, 2444 Industrial Street, Burlington, Ontario, L7P 1A5. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carpenter Hospice Burlington or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
