Obituary of Joanne Dunlop
JOANNE “Jo” SYLVIA DUNLOP (formerly CAMPBELL) passed away peacefully on August 5th. 2018, at the age of 90 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington ON.
Jo was born in Toronto ON to Wallace and Pauline Hornell. Dear Mother of Margaret Barr (Keith), Malcolm Campbell (Sharon), Rosemary Campbell (Michael) and Jean Ananthan (Noel); Grandmother of Sarah, Jason (Kate), Meghan, Jonathan (Taylor), Leanne, Kathryn, Natasha, Joshua, Matthew (Marissa) and Brianna; and Great-Grandmother of Dante, Tessa, Alexander and Chloe.
Jo is predeceased by her first husband, the Rev Alex K Campbell (1993), and her second husband, Hugh M Dunlop (2001).
Jo lived in Toronto, Sarnia, St Marys, Thorold, Beamsville, Chatham and for the past several years, Burlington. She attended Jarvis Collegiate as a youth, earned her Hons B.A. from Brock University and M.Ed from Niagara University and taught at various elementary schools in the Niagara Region for three decades.
She was a member of the Knox Presbyterian Church in Burlington and belonged to many organizations including Past Queen of Daughters of the Nile, Past President of Niagara District Club of Bokhara Court, Past Matron Order of the Eastern Star, and Member White Shrine of Jerusalem.
The family thanks the many friends, neighbours and caregivers at Wellness House, Joseph Brant Hospital and Christopher Terrace Retirement Residence who kindly visited and supported Jo during and after her convalescences.
Visitation will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church in Burlington (461 Elizabeth St) on Saturday, August 11th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Memorial Service and Reception will follow immediately after. Tallman Funeral Home in Beamsville ON will be handling the funeral arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church, Burlington or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
