Life Legacy
DAVIS, Jerry (Thomas Gerald) – With broken hearts we announce the death of Jerry (Thomas Gerald) Davis on Tuesday December 4, 2018 at age 77. Words cannot express the depths of loss for his wife and best friend Maureen, his loving and devoted daughters and their spouses, Dianne Davis and Jill Tinmouth, Colleen and Peter Huebert and Jennifer and Ken Davidson, his grandson Thomas, and granddaughters Lauren and Grace who will so miss their Papa. A caring brother of Patricia Hurley and Dan Davis, Jerry was loved by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Christie Nicol, John Nicol (Suzanne), Anne and Ted Rogers, Alex and Leona Nicol, Agnes Czifra, and Fred Karwath. Predeceased by Norah and Jim Gardner, Isabel Karwath, Robert and Bonnie Nicol and Dezo Czifra. A host of nieces and nephews will feel the loss as well. Before his career in education, Jerry was employed by Cyanamid of Canada. He attended St. Catharines Teachers’ College, and earned a BA and Masters in Education at Brock University while teaching full time. He taught at Carmel Senior School and St. Gabriel Lalemant. He was the last Vice Principal of Georges P. Vanier Senior Elementary and first Vice Principal of St. Paul High School. He was Principal of St. Patrick’s (Port Colborne), Our Lady of Victory Junior (Fort Erie), and St. Patrick School (Niagara Falls). Jerry was a talented, skilled craftsman in any task he undertook, and kept his cars in mint condition. He played basketball until he was 70, enjoyed Formula One and Indy racing and loved his time in Florida. Most of all he loved his wife and family, and showed it daily in all that he did for them. Each daughter benefitted from his renovating skills, learning many useful techniques. He wholeheartedly supported Dianne’s pursuit of photographic art. Colleen’s craftsmanship and Jen’s love of mid-century modern furniture. He had a great sense of humour which helped continue his devotion to the Buffalo Bills. Jerry and the family are extremely thankful for the expert and tender care of Dr. Dan Dargavel and staff who have gone beyond the ‘extra mile’ on Jerry’s behalf. So too, are we grateful for the physicians and staff involved in Jerry’s care at Butler Memorial Hospital (Pennsylvania), GNGH, St. Catharines General, Hamilton General and Juravinski Cancer Centre. Thanks also to Meghan Brown, the nurses of St. Elizabeth’s, the PSWs of Paramed and Rose Hill Lane, Melanie Stansfield, Dr. Karen Berti and Heather Whitworth. Cremation has taken place and visitation will take place at PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Friday December 7th, from 2 to 4 pm. A brief service for family and friends will follow at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favourite charity in Jerry’s name would be appreciated.
