Jenesta’s Obituary
WESTVILLE – Jenesta Ann Kathen, 81, Westville, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with her family by her side.
Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Viola Morine and Earle Hancock. In younger years, Jenesta was employed with Avon Foods, Port William; ACA, New Minas and as a seasonal worker with Sterling’s, Wolfville. She served as Corps Cadet Counsellor for several years with The Salvation Army Kentville Corps. Jenesta managed the former Salvation Army Thrift Store, Stellarton for several years and was active in prison ministry for over 26 years. She was a faithful member of the Salvation Army Westville Corps, where she frequently sang duets with her husband, Robert. They also sang in nursing and senior’s homes throughout the county. Jenesta will be dearly missed by those she loved.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; daughters, Belinda and Melissa, Pembroke, Ont; Cathy, Thunder Bay, Ont.; step-daughter, Colleen, Oakville, Ont.; sons, Greg (Kathy), Arnprior, Ont.; Robert, Pembroke; step-son, Harry, Westville; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Elliott Hancock, Halifax.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by son, Marshall.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 18th in The Salvation Army Westville Corps with Major Wayne Pike officiating.
