Jean Marilyn Habel (nee Snyder)
It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Jean Marilyn Habel of Ayr, on Sunday December 2, 2018, at the age of 78 years.
Cherished wife of 54 years to the late Robert Habel (2016); Dear father to David and Dianne Habel (Carson, Noah (Domonic), Melissa & Wes Krall (Mia) , Lynne Ouellette (Kassie, Dylan) and Kent and Jodi Habel (Devin and Shane). Survived by her siblings Ruth Mitchell of Brantford and Morley Snyder of Granton. Predeceased by her parents Cecil and Annie Alice Snyder (nee Nesbitt), brother George and a twin sister Joy both at birth, parents-in-law Wilfred and Rita Habel,
brothers-in-law Albert Mitchell, Howard Eichler, sister-in-law Helen Snyder and nephew Peter Snyder.
A lifelong resident of Ayr and surrounding areas. Graduated high school at Galt Collegiate and attended the Stratford Teachers College. She taught in Burlington, Platteville and other schools for the Thames Valley School Board. Robert and Jean lived in Burlington for a few years prior to purchasing a farm at Bright where they started their family and farmed for many years up until Robert fell ill. Jean was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 47 years. She served as the Worthy Matron in Thames Valley Chapter No.199 during the year 1976-77. Her passion was her music in which she loved to sing or play the piano/organ for the Eastern Star group for many years, church functions and family wedding. She enjoyed architecture, gardening and good game of scrabble. She will be dearly missed.
Friends may call at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 183 Northumberland St. Ayr on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 7 -9 p.m Service to take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday Dec. 7at 1:30 p.m. Burial at Roseville Cemetery followed by a reception and fellowship back at the funeral home.
Special thanks is given to wonderful neighbors Bill and Dorothy Koster, friends, doctors and nurses for their assistance and care during Jean’s past year of illness and the North Dumfries Fire Department Crew for their assistance on Sunday. Donations to Wheels of Hope, the Juravinski Hospital or to Heart and Stoke would be appreciated.
