Janice Roxanne Colbourne
With heavy hearts, the family of Janice (Simms) Colbourne
announces her passing. Janice passed peacefully, surrounded by her
family, on Friday, November 23, 2018 at her home in
Oromocto. Born in Central, NFLD in 1966, she is a daughter
of Marie (Fudge) Simms and the late James Simms and the loving wife
for nearly 33 years of Archie Colbourne.
Janice was a lovely lady who made meaningful connections with
people. Whether it was one of her famous lengthy phone calls or a game
of “men against the women” in Sequence when company came to
visit, Janice brought fun and laughter into each situation.
She was definitely witty. A conversationalist who could
bring life to the room. She and Archie were also
adventurers. They would hop on their mountain bikes, hit the
trails behind their home and go for miles and miles. The pair of them
were inseparable, best friends, even partners in crime, as they say.
Family was everything to Janice. The love she had for her children and
her precious grandbabies was immeasurable. They were
absolutely the light of her life. She will be deeply missed
and never forgotten by all who loved her.
Along with her mother Marie and her best friend and husband
Archie, Janice is survived by her daughter Faith (Shane) Christie of
Perth, ON and her son Matthew (Lecia) of Waasis; her grandchildren
Paige, Chase, Claire, Reina and Lennox; her brothers Harry (Mavis)
Simms, Austin (May) Simms and Clayton (Cathy) Simms, all of NFLD;
sisters Dana Colbourne of Quispamsis, Olga (Darren) Shepherd, Loretta
(Bob) Roberts, Wavey (Roger) Hibbs and Patricia Simms, all of NFLD;
her wonderful “bonus” family members on Archie’s side; many
dear friends and her faithful four legged companions Molly and
Maggie
In addition to her father James, Janice was predeceased by
her brother Terrence and sister Tina.
Arrangements under the care of Oromocto Funeral Home with
visitation Monday, November 26 from 7-9 pm and Tuesday, November 27
from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Janice’s Life will be held
Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from the Salvation Army Fredericton
Community Church at 11 am followed by a time of fellowship and light
refreshment. Interment will take place in Sunnybank Cemetery
at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Janice’s
memory can be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, or
to a charity of the donor’s choice.
