STELLARTON – Janet Rosalie Sandra Hingley, 74, Stellarton, formerly of Willowdale and Black Brook passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 11, 2018 at home, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Eric Charles and Della Jean (Cameron) Finch. A mother of two girls and five boys, she devoted her life, along with her husband, Frederick, to raising their children and creating a nurturing home. She was a member of Bethany United Church, East River St. Mary’s. Sandra enjoyed sewing, quilting and shopping; crafts at which she excelled. She was a member of the Trenton Quilting Club and UCT Pictonian Council 879. Sandra demonstrated and taught her children values, leaving a rich legacy of love to her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Frederick Jordan Hingley; daughters, Kathy (Barry) Hardwick, New Glasgow; Karen (Steven) MacDonald, Westville; sons, Brian (Janie) Hingley, Truro; Michael (Wendy) Hingley, Milo, Alta.; Timothy (Julie) Hingley, Stellarton; Christopher (Erin) Hingley, Moncton, N.B.; Glen (Deanne) Hingley, Halifax; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jordan, New Glasgow; Patsy (Calvin) MacLennan, Coalburn; Kaye (Doug) MacDonald, Garden of Eden; Arlene Finch, New Glasgow; “like a brother”, cousin, Jimmy (Olivia) Cameron, Westville; sisters-in-law, Shirley Kirk, Bridgewater; Hazel Hingley, St. Catharines, Ont.; Janet Hingley, Westville; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by granddaughter, Meghan Hingley in infancy; sister-in-law, Marion Hingley; brothers-in-law, John Hingley, Howard Kirk, Fraser Hingley, Archie Hingley and Charlie Jordan.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, October 13 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, October 14 with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Private interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, East River St. Mary’s.
