Obituary of James Mitchell
Mitchell, James Murray – 91, of Bridgetown. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of James Murray Mitchell. Jim passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, the clients and staff of the Meadows Community (Adult Residential Centre). Jim has spent the past 31 years arriving in 1987 when the facility opened. Prior to that, he lived the County Home, Bridgetown for many years. Jim was a very quiet, calm and gentle man. He took great comfort in the small things in life: his favorite chair and warm fuzzy blanket, the daily head rubs he received from staff, a good piece of chocolate, a long car ride, and cruising the halls in his new wheelchair. Jim has a mischievous side and loved to play pranks on the staff. He had a special bond with his devoted roommates, who helped and supported him over the years. Jim had a collection of stylish caps that he liked to wear for special occasions. Jim also enjoyed gospel hymns, his most favorite one being Amazing Grace. In Jim’s younger years you would often hear him hum this song. Staff would occasionally sing this to him and play it in his room when he rested. Staff had played this for him the night he passed. His family here at The Meadows takes great pride and comfort in knowing they gave him the best quality of life they could. Jim had a happy and content life at The Meadows and will be dearly missed. Burial will take place 2:00pm, Tuesday December 4, 2018, in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at The Meadows, 200 Church Street, Bridgetown, with Pastor Herb Anderson officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Meadows Community to help fund one of Jim’s favorite programs, music therapy. On line condolences may be made by visiting www.kaulbachfamilyfunrealhome.com
