Obituary of James Cherry
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Grand River Hospital, on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, in his 86th year. Beloved and cherished husband of Marilyn (Bartlett) for almost 60 years. Loving father of Lois and Willard Metzger, and Lynn and Mark Straus. Treasured by his grandchildren Matthew Metzger, Christopher and Brianne Metzger, Benjamin Straus and Stacey Straus. Loved brother-in-law of Lyla Peterkin, June and Jim Morris, and Grant Densmore. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Mary (Koelln) Cherry, sister-in-law Elaine Densmore, and brother-in-law Bill Peterkin. The family would like to thank the staff of Grand River Hospital’s ICU-B for their care and compassion. The family will receive their relatives and friends on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Community Mennonite Fellowship, 109 Wellington St. S., Drayton. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Community Mennonite Fellowship. Interment in the Elmira Union Cemetery at 3 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to The Foundation Fighting Blindness, or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
