James Victor ‘Vic’ Heighton
1948-2018
HEIGHTON, James Victor
“Vic” – Age 69, West Cooks
Cove, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12,
2018, at home surrounded by family. Vic was born on June 15, 1948 in
Guysborough to Mary (Jamieson) and the late Henry Irving
Heighton.
“Vic” was known for many things but all who
knew him were aware of his love for “old stories” of
his many life adventures. All who heard his tales were sure to leave
laughing. His life’s work was as a Journeyman Electrician.
His love of the outdoors and hunting kept him vibrant and happy.
Friends and the occasional visit by Captain Morgan Deluxe brought a
twinkle to his eye! His sons were his pride and joy. In 2017, in his
14th year battling cancer, his undying mental
strength allowed him to join several other senior bikers on an
unforgettable trip of his life to the Gaspe Coast. His attitude was
“never say never”. Vic will be
missed by so, so many.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Sharon (Doucette)
Heighton; sons, Larry (Natasha Clyke), Halifax; Kyle,
Porter’s Lake; mother, Mary (Jamieson) Heighton,
Guysborough; siblings, Carol Ann (Al) Leonard, Ontario; Gerry
(Evelyne) Jamieson, Guysborough; mother-in-law, Joan Campbell;
sister/brother-in-law, Darlene and Reid Jamieson. He is also survived
by nieces and nephews, Amanda, Geoff, Alana, Jennifer, Kim,
Cheryl-Ann, Sheena and their families, who will always have treasured
memories of their beloved “Uncle Vic”. Besides his
father, Vic was predeceased by his beloved sister, Marilyn
“Marny” Richardson.
Thank you to Karen Hoben of Palliative Care and Maureen Long
