James “Tubby” Collins
1933-2018
Collins, James David “Tubby” … It is with great
sadness we announce the passing of James “Tubby” Collins,
on Tuesday November 20, 2018 at the age of 85. Tubby is reunited with
his beloved wife Doreen, son Randy and son-in-law Bob. He is
predeceased by his parents William and Florence Collins, his five
brothers and two sisters. Tubby leaves precious memories with his
girls Cindy Harasti, Linda Grummett (Steve), Julie Collins (Howie) and
his “adopted” daughter Nelia. Cherished Papa to Katie,
Brittany and Jason. Proud Poppy to great-grandchildren Hannah, Aiden
and Tauriel. He will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and
many treasured friends. Tubby was a hardworking man with a true zest
for life. His sense of humour–..beyond words. He started
playing hockey at a young age and ended his career with the Galt
Oldtimers. He was an avid golfer, referee and baseball coach which
earned him a spot in the Cambridge Hall of Fame. He was a true fan of
the Leafs, Argos and even the Cleveland Browns. When gathering with
family and friends, he started with a cold Black Label and always
ended with a “Home Run”. He is truly a man that will be
sorely missed. Special thanks to the entire staff at Hilltop Manor
for providing excellent care and friendship to our dad. Please join
us for a Celebration of Tubby’s life at Corbett Funeral Home, 95
Dundas St., Cambridge, on Saturday December 8, 2018 at 11a.m. As an
expression of sympathy, donations made to Kids Can Play would be
appreciated by the family.
