Blackburn, James R. – Of Clifton, passed away at age 90, on June 26, 2018. A raconteur extraordinaire, renaissance man, and prize-winning gardener, Jim was a lifelong, or new, friend to many near and far.
Jim leaves behind his six children and their spouses; along with seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; dear brother, Leslie, Bible Hill; sisters, Lorna Waterfield, Stratford, Ont.; Catharine Woolley, Dartmouth; as well as five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wives, Françoise and Marilyn.
Jim truly enjoyed the company of people and was known for his hospitality. He loved to go for long drives, discovering new places or checking in at favourite haunts along the way. A world traveller, for business and pleasure, and an avid amateur of family and local history, Jim was a wealth of knowledge on so many subjects. This man who told engaging, and often side-splitting, stories will be dearly missed.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7, at 2 p.m., in Old Barns United Church, Rev. Dan Gunn officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
The family wishes to thank the VON and Dr. D. Henderson and his Palliative Care team (Truro) for their wonderful care and dedicated support.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
