Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
James (Jim) Reid passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of family and friends on November 30, 2018, after a year-long battle with cancer. Jim was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and arrived in Canada in 1956 along with his parents and his brother. He grew up in Toronto/North York. Jim was a gifted auto mechanic, but gradually moved his career to selling large construction equipment, with his broad knowledge and dedication to his customer base setting him above and beyond in the field. He retired in February 2017, but anyone who knows Jim, knows he wasn’t the type to sit back and relax. He quickly began working with his friend Navy, towards building “the dream”. This turned out to be his favourite work. Jim is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, with whom he spent 51 years, daughters Paula (Ian), and Caitlin (David), and grandchildren Hailey, Carson, Avery, and Shepard. He is also survived by his brothers Ronald (Laurel) and Glenn, and his extended family of Sandra, George (Georgina), Ted (Techa), Carole (David), Christina, as well as his nieces and nephews Darryl, Christine, Shannah, Nolan, Brett, Alexis, Cassandra, and Allison. He will be sadly missed by his best friend of 55 years, Dennis (Darlene) and their family.
Jim was the kind of man who always made his friends feel like a part of the family circle, and the family acknowledges all these friends and loved ones who will miss him as well. Visitation will be held at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME 524 Davis Drive, Newmarket, ON (905) 898-2100 on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with Funeral Service to follow in the Chapel at 12:00 p.m. Private Cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim’s name can be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Cancer Centre, The Stronach Cancer Centre, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of James Jim Raymond Reid 2018..
